This spring Mohawk announced their new Make with Mohawk Campaign as a way to inspire, encourage exploration and reward the great work being created by the maker community. “The new Make with Mohawk campaign does two things: It offers creatives the impetus to make and rewards great work with the opportunity to make more,” says Chris Harrold, SVP Marketing & Creative at Mohawk.
INSPIRATION
To kick off the campaign, the Mohawk Print Series debuted at the AIGA national conference. The three part series of inspirational prints features work of nine designers and artists produced on purposefully selected Mohawk papers using three different print process: Risograph, Letterpress and Digital.
The initial set features work from Lab Partners, We Are Buro Buro and Hybrid Design. The prints are produced on a different shade of Mohawk Superfine Eggshell. Risograph printing made its debut in the mid 1980’s as a method of business printing. It’s experiencing a resurgence among makers drawn to it for its inherent quirks like off-registration, limited colors and uneven ink lay. What traditional offset lithography characterizes as flaws, creatives crave, embracing Risograph’s quirkiness as part of the design.
EXPLORATION
And now Mohawk is making it easy for creatives to experience the perfectly imperfect qualities of Risograph printing. Creatives have the opportunity to try each of the different print techniques featured in the Mohawk Print Series. Designers can choose from multiple formats, sizes and paper stocks to see their passion projects come to life.
CELEBRATION
And finally, rounding out the campaign is the relaunch of The Mohawk Show. Driven by the idea that great work deserves to be celebrated, Mohawk is rewarding standout projects created on their papers. “Maker Grants” give creatives the opportunity to turn their side projects into portfolio pieces, encouraging makers to keep on making. The Mohawk Show is now open for submissions until January 2020.
